In the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, India carried out "Operation Sindoor" — a bold and calculated precision retaliatory strike against Pakistan-based terrorist infrastructure. This historic military response comes in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam attack on April 22, where 26 innocent Indian civilians, including Hindu pilgrims and children, were mercilessly gunned down in a cowardly ambush orchestrated by Pakistan-based terrorists.
Remembering Pahalgam: The Trigger Point
On April 22, 2025, India was left shaken as terrorists ambushed unarmed civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people, including Hindu pilgrims and children, was one of the deadliest in recent years.
Investigations swiftly pointed to The Resistance Front (TRF), a known proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), operating under the shelter of Pakistan's intelligence agencies. The massacre sent shockwaves through the country, triggering national outrage and a call for justice.
Operation Sindoor: Surgical Precision with Strategic Messaging
The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ordered an immediate and well-planned response. At 1:05 AM IST on May 7, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, a meticulously coordinated strike targeting nine terrorist camps across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation, carried out in a rapid 25-minute window between 1:05 am and 1:30 am. The Indian Army, Air Force and Navy held this historic tri-services operation.
The operation showcased India's technological edge, intelligence superiority, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding its citizens. The Indian Air Force used Rafale fighter jets equipped with SCALP EG missiles and AASM Hammer bombs to target nine terror hubs which included key infrastructure belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba, (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen, without breaching Pakistani airspace. 70+ militants were neutralised, and over 60 were injured.
The targeted sites were:
- Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur (Pakistan)
- Markaz Taiba, Muridke (Pakistan)
- Sarjal, Tehra Kalan (Pakistan)
- Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot (Pakistan)
- Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala (PoK)
- Markaz Abbas, Kotli (PoK)
- Maskar Raheel Shahid Gulur Camp, Kotli (PoK)
- Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad (PoK)
- Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad (PoK)
The defence ministry said Operation Sindoor was “focused, measured and non-escalatory” and avoided any Pakistani military facilities.
Pakistan’s Claims and India’s Firm Stand
Following the strikes, Pakistan's military establishment claimed civilian casualties, and bizarrely alleged that five Indian fighter jets were downed — claims categorically denied by the Indian Air Force. India clarified that no aircraft were deployed into enemy airspace and that long-range missiles were used to avoid any airspace violation.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement calling out Pakistan’s continued patronage of terror and reaffirming that the strikes were precise, proportionate, and necessary.
Global Response: Calls for Restraint, Support for Justice
While the international community has called for de-escalation, India’s global partners have largely acknowledged its right to self-defense. Diplomatic briefings were held with the UN, United States, France, and Russia, all of whom were provided with intelligence proof of the terror infrastructure targeted.
Conclusion: Not Just Retaliation — A Resolve
India has shown once again that it will not be pushed into silence or submission. Operation Sindoor is not just about retribution — it’s about restoring deterrence. It’s about showing the world that terrorism will be hunted, even across borders, when justice demands it.
